Megan began dancing at the age of 3. It wasn’t long after that when she realized how much she truly loved dancing. Megan started furthering her dance education by the age of 12 when she auditioned to train in a Junior Professional Program.
Megan has trained in Ballet, Contemporary, Modern, Jazz, Lyrical, Pointe, and African styles of dance. Her favourite styles are Contemporary and Ballet. Megan has successfully completed her Royal Academy of Dance ballet examinations from grades 1 – Advanced Foundation. Megan has loved participating in the Manitoba Provincial Dance Festival, and has had the privilege of being invited to perform in the Gala for 3 consecutive years.
Megan is currently studying dance post-secondary in the Senior Professional Program at the School of Contemporary Dancers, which is affiliated with the University of Winnipeg; where she will be majoring in dance. Throughout this program she has had the privileges of landscape dancing with Stephanie Ballard. As well as getting the opportunity to work with choreographers from all over Canada such as Constance Cooke, Jera Wolfe, Roger Sinha and many more. Megan enjoyed doing solo work in contemporary dance with Rachel Cooper this past year.
Megan is grateful that with this program she gets many opportunities to perform including a tour around the Winnipeg school divisions for elementary and high school students.
Megan loves to share dance with others and at the age of 16 she started volunteering at a daycare in her neighbourhood where she would go once a week and share her passion for dance with the children there, who she hoped to inspire. She taught them creative movement and beginner jazz and ballet.
When Megan is not dancing she enjoys spending time with her friends and family at her cabin as she loves swimming and camping.
